Welcome to Willington WI!

About us

Picture
Willington WI was reformed in 1989 with about 20 members. We now have a thriving membership of 47 friendly, enthusiastic ladies. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in Willington Village Hall. At most meetings there is a talk from a visiting speaker but we also have various social events throughout the year. Activities that we enjoy include a cookery club at the local school, theatre visits, lunches, walks, craft days, day trips to places of interest and much, much more.
Our WI is part of the local Mercia Group of Institutes. We are in the Derbyshire Federation of WIs (DFWI) and affiliated to the National Federation (NFWI). All of these organise events which our members can attend so we have plenty to keep us busy.
2019 was the Centenary of the DFWI. Each WI produced a 'brick' which have been sewn together to create a wall hanging to display at County events. Our 'brick' represents features of Willington and acknowledges the floral displays we create as part of our adoption of the railway station.
